A study table is certainly the most important furniture piece in a teenager's bedroom. It is the place where one studies and lays the foundation of his career. It is at this table that fun and frolic is curtailed and student life is resumed.

The Table

Normally, a study table is made up of a tabletop, a couple of drawers, shelves, some and some with shutters. The table top must be have a minimum width of 1.5 Ft. and 2.5 – 3 Ft. is advisable, as it makes place for two books to be kept in side by side to each other. The length should be minimum 2.5 Ft. and 3 – 4 Ft. is ideal as it allows notebooks and books to be spread out, also place for a clock, a pencil case, a coffee mug, a plate etc.

The height of a study table is very important. A minimum of 2.5 Ft. is must and 3 – 3.5 Ft. from the floor level is advisable. The placement of a study table in the bedroom needs to be done carefully, keeping in mind the light source. That is, it should be kept where natural light is available for most part of the day. Also the source of artificial light like bulb or tube light should be in front of the reader.

A good study table usually has a couple of drawers and open or closed shelves below the top. Small items like pencil box, spectacles etc. are kept in the drawers. Files, folders, notebooks etc. are stored in the shelves.

These tables are available in almost all sorts of materials. PVC or plastic come at a lower price. Wooden or stainless steel costs greater but are also justified by durability and finish.

The color of the table must be of the same color or from the same family of color of the rest of the furniture of the bedroom. Dark colored tabletop is always advisable as it avoids visibility of dust or stains.

Studying hard

A study table must be purchased or made according to the liking of the owner as he is going to be associated with it for serious reasons.
