There are several style variations and patterns of roman shades. These many varieties and patterns make them ideal for any room in the office or home. Some of the most common patterns of roman shades are listed below.

Folded Roman Shades:

Folded roman shades contain overlapping folds that are evenly spaced. Folded roman shades are considered as a more traditional pattern of roman shade. The folded roman shade creates a classic and tailored shape when mounted.

Flat Roman Shades:

The flat roman shades are a more contemporary pattern of roman shades. Flat roman shades do not have horizontal seams as most other roman shades do. Solids and printed fabrics look excellent on this pattern of roman shade. Flat roman shades look awesome when installed in offices, bedrooms, or kitchens.

Soft Roman Shades:

Soft roman shades are considered to be a more traditional pattern of roman shades. This shade has a more tailored appearance as compared to other shades. It contains soft overlapping folds which are achieved using the technique of "hobbled" lining.

Balloon Roman Shades:

The balloon roman shade has a more formal appearance than other shades. This particular pattern is a great installation idea for a dining room or formal living room. The balloon roman shades contain box pleats at the top and a series of flowing balloon-shaped folds towards the bottom.

Light Filtering Roman Shades:

The light filtering roman shades are a great installation idea if you are considering window treatments for decoration, and not necessarily for blocking sun exposure. However, they are designed to block a partial amount of sunlight from entering the room though they will not block the entire amount of sunlight. They have the same great look and pattern as a traditional roman shade. They are also a great idea for filtering a small amount of sunlight into the room. "Light filtering" roman shades are best suited for these situations.

Room Darkening Roman Shades:

Just as the name suggests, these types of roman shades are designed to add a darkening effect to a room. If you are in search for a roman shade designed to insulate the room and block out a considerable amount of sunlight, then this is the perfect style for you. Roman shades that are "room darkening" are best suited for achieving your purpose.
