Keep your doors secure

In order to keep your home safe and protected you will need to take certain measures. You will want to make sure that you are securing your doors and keeping them locked up safe so that you are not putting yourself in any risk for a bad situation to happen. The last thing that you want is to be robbed and that is why secure doors are so important to your home.

To keep your home burglar proof, you will need to install one-inch deadbolts on all of the outside doors. You should also know that a door with too much space between the door and the frame is an invitation for the burglar to use a tool to jimmy opens the door. You should keep the doors reinforced with a panel of 3/4 inch plywood or a piece of metal of some kind.

The hinges on the outside of your home should be reset to the inside. If you do not do this, a thief can always get into your home by knocking out the hinge. This may sound difficult but it is not a hard process to do at all. It is worth the time to turn the hinge around and make your home more secure. You can also keep your patio doors burglar proof by setting a pipe or metal bar of some king in the middle bottom track of the door. This pipe should be the same size as the track.

If you notice any rot or damage to your doors you need to get them fixed. Replace the rotted wood with new wood so that it is not as easy for a burglar to break into your home and do the damage that you do not want. You should use solid wood that is going to be durable and withstand any type of abuse.

It is simple for a thief to break the glass in your door, then reach in, and open up the doorknob. A door panel that is all glass should be reinforced, replaced, or secured with a deadbolt that is only opened with a key. This will help to buy you some time and maybe eventually the burglar will give up and move on. You need to think of these things so that you are keeping your home as safe as you possibly can.

Remember there are all kinds of doors out there. If you think that your door is old and needs to be replaced chances are you are right. There are steel entry doors and even all-wood doors that are going to be a better value for your home and keep your home more secure and comfortable for you and family to relax in.
