These devices are wired to receive information about the weather from the internet and accordingly regulate the time and amount of water that should be released. For example, if the information available on the internet predicts an impending rainfall for the given area, then the controller will regulate the irrigation device to provide a less than usual amount of water to the crops or plants and allow the deficient water to be supplied by the rainfall. Thus these devices greatly help to reduce and prevent unnecessary and excessive wastage of water and thus help in water conservation.

There are a variety of these irrigation controller devices that are available in the market as well as on the internet. While deciding on the right controller, the cost efficiency, specific need and also the level of sophistication that you require must be considered.
