The furniture unit that holds storage space and is of some peculiar shape or decoration is called as a fancy cupboard. The primary objective of this is to sit pretty and to enhance the interiors of the bedroom.

A fancy cupboard is usually made to order, according to the person in whose bedroom it is going to be placed. Girls have more inclination towards dollhouses; palaces etc.; while boys prefer the forest look or sports look. These cupboards are generally made of wood, but readymade pieces are also available in plastic or fiberglass or PVC. Wooden ones have laminated exteriors. A wide variety of colors and textures are available in laminates and a good composition can be achieved by a combination of same family colors. Pinks and Lavenders make the cupboard look like it belongs to fairyland and hence are favorites among girls. Dark Brown and Deep Maroons etc. provide the 'woods' effect well; which makes them much desired among boys.

The shape of a dollhouse is the most sought after since each horizontal shelf looks like one floor. Thus the function and appearance both are satisfied. The hardware used in these is jazzy, of unusual shapes. Locks are normally not provided since they are not aesthetically pleasing. This means that only clothes, books, and other loose items can be kept in them. A baseball, a cricket bat, a tennis racket, a guitar, paintbrushes etc. and soft toys can be duped inside. There is a lot of scope for detailing. That is, the molding used can be cornice-like; the end plates could be decorative and so on. A mirror fixed to one of the shutters is optional. Earlier it was avoided, but nowadays it is incorporated in the design because of absence of a separate wardrobe.

All in all, fancy cupboards help in satisfying the need to be pampered. They keep you related to the innocence of passing years and fantasies of growing up years coming by. Get a fancy cupboard made, it will in turn get your room the look that you desire.
