More and more people want their homes Decked up. A tastefully done up Deck / Patio gives a house a better utility besides appeal. There can be various designs and styles from any number of contractors who could add that spice to your courtyards. A Deck can be defined as a roofless, floored structure, typically with a railing, that adjoins a house, whereas a Patio can be called an open, paved space that adjoins a residence. Patios are typically of Spanish origin .As we see, there is not much to differentiate between the two. Broadly speaking if the courtyard does not have a good drainage and is on uneven ground, Decks are preferred, whereas a Patio always needs a level ground as it is paved.

1. Location of the Deck or Patio in your house. Is it towards the rear, front or the sides? Also consider the direction of sunrise and sunset and the intensity of summer days. You would know the purpose of having a Deck Patio in terms of the time you would want to spend there. Also check out if it could give you a better view if the Deck was located in a particular area. At the same time have a look around the neighborhood so that your privacy is intact.

2. We all use the Deck and Patios for those small parties we have with friends. Consider the number of people that generally would be around so that there is ample space around for everyone.
The designing of the Deck Patio depends on your tastes, the time you can devote to the entire process and of course the finance.
