If we do not sleep properly than it greatly affects our productivity, concentration and we are likely to make more mistakes, which affect our work. Research shows that how we feel next day depends on the sleep that we had one night before. Sleep affects our mood, performance and behavior. Improper sleep makes us function at level which is far below as compared to our optimal level. Proper sleep makes the person happy, creative, motivated and healthy. It also helps the person feel recharged and ready to work for the next day. To remain healthy one should sleep for right amount of time and sleep on the right surface of the body. At least 7-8 hours of sleep is very necessary for anyone to remain healthy and happy. Good quality sleep and high productivity goes hand in hand. Less sleep affects nervous system and decision-making. Sleep for proper time is also good for the beauty, one can really look good when sleeps for good amount of time as sleep relaxes the body and muscles. Working hard and sleeping less is like burning the candle both the ends. Sleeping less makes you feel drowsy; one becomes more susceptible to infection and has negative impact on cognitive functioning and mood.</p>

<p>How sleeplessness can be reduced:</p>
<p>There can be many causes of sleeplessness which includes food intolerance, depression, blood sugar fluctuations, hormone imbalance, sleep apnea, restless legs syndrome, lack of exercise and excessive stress, all these causes can be diagnosed and can be taken care of with the help of the doctor. It can also be reduced by improving the diet, include various vitamins, minerals and various herbs that help to reduce sleeplessness. Include exercise and yoga in the daily routine to sleep well and stay healthy.</p>
<p>Importance of right bed to sleep:</p>
<p>Sleeping at the right kind of bed helps to get better and deep sleep, it minimizes tossing and turning and also provides better support weight and pressure distribution which makes blood circulation good. Right kind of sleeping system provides right support to minimize pressure to acceptable levels of different body types and sleeping postures.</p>

Adequate sleep is thus necessary for all to remain in good health and well-being.</p>
<p>Children&#039;s bed</p>
<p>Never place a crib or children&#039;s bed near a window. Infants playing or sleeping in their cribs near windows get caught and tangled in the looped cords of the window treatment. Toddlers while trying to look out of the window or climbing on furniture may loose their footing and get wrapped in the cord. Avoid putting the cords. It is very necessary to keep the children&#039;s bed in a safe place. The bed of the children should be placed away from the window to let their safety. More over if the bed is placed at the window side then, there is a possibility of the insects entering your child&#039;s room and thus your child might get caught up with some disease. Place the bed of your children in the middle of the room, away from the window.</p>
<p>Your bed</p>
<p>Place your bed too in the middle of the room. Do not place your bed near window, as it might just be harmful. If the bed at the window side you might just happen to forget to close the window and thus invite the insects inside. Thus, you might get caught up with a disease. Moreover, all the dust and the dirt would get accumulated on your bed. Although you might clean your bed everyday, some dust and dirt might just remain there and thus, there would be spread of disease. If the bed is not clean and is dirty, you might not even get good sound sleep. If you do not sleep well at night, then you will become anxious the next day due to 8inadequate sleep.</p>

<p>Follow a routine</p>
<p>We have to do too much to do, hence take time out and recharge yourself by getting a good sleep. The quantity and quality of sleep would make all the difference in how productive you will be the next day. Keep regular hours of sleeping. Keep your biological clock in check by going to the bed around the same time at each night and waking up close to the same time each morning, even on weekends. Decide a time of waking up in the morning according to your daily routine that you follow. You could get a comfortable mattress and keep your room clean also create a comfortable environment for sleeping. If the bedding is cozy enough you are tend to sleep well and in adequate time. Sleep for an adequate time, not less time than the required or more time than the time that is essential.</p>
<p>Sleeping</p>
<p>Usually people rest at the weekends for the whole week. People do not sleep adequately and sleep for long time at the weekend. Follow a regular routine everyday. Follow certain thing in a same order before sleeping, bathing, reading, etc. Proper timing for sleeping and waking up is very necessary. An adequate rest at night is very necessary in order to remain fit and fine also fresh following day. Fix a time for waking up in the morning and sleeping at night. If you were fresh then you would remain cheerful and energetic and do all your work properly. Thus, a proper sleep is very much essential and important.</p>

<p>Bedroom</p>
<p>Bedroom is the place where you would rest at night and relax down after the whole day&#039;s work. The proper bedding is must for a better sleep. It is thought that keeping a clock in your room should be avoided. Avoid looking at the clock at night in order to check the time. It would be preferable not keeping clock in your bedroom. If there is a clock in the bedroom you might just happen to wake up in the middle of the night and check time so that you are late at work the next day. This could lead to anxiety. If you get anxious and your sleep in inadequate for the day, then you might just spoil the next day. You will not be fresh nor be as energetic.</p>
<p>Alternative</p>
<p>If at all you cannot keep the clock out of your bedroom, you can atleast keep the clock at a longer distance from you, so that it will let you wake up in time the next morning. If the clock is far away then you would have to get up from your bed to turn off the alarm clock. Keep the clock away from your eyes, keep it turned not showing the time to your side. This will help you not keeping on starring at the clock for the rest night. Sleep well at night and next day you would seem to be fresh and energetic like ever.</p>

When your children were, small you would rock them to sleep with some songs but as they get older they would still love to listen to that song, it would create a special significance to them. Set some time everyday for your children before going off to sleep. Spend some time with the, let them tell you about the whole day, listen to them. Let them also tell you whatever is in their minds, if you do so they would for surely appreciate it. You may want to read something, books, for your children, set a time for reading before going to bed. This would help making them better readers along with creating a special bond between you and your children.</p>

<p>Some tips to sleep well:</p>
<p>Always maintain regular wake up time and bedtime schedule and it should be followed even during weekends. Follow relaxing routine right before bedtime that is away from the activities that causes excitement, stress and anxiety. Make your bedroom very comfortable to sleep. Bedroom should be a place that is calm, quite and attractive to sleep. Use good quality, comfortable and supportive mattress and pillows. Mattresses should not be used for more than 9 to 10 years. Avoid consuming caffeine items such as coffee, tea, soft drinks and chocolates before bedtime keeps you awake for long time. Intake of alcohol and nicotine products like cigarettes, tobacco products will lead to poor sleep. Use bedroom only for sleeping and things like television, computer, and work material away from bedroom so that mind relax and one can sleep well. Heavy meals should be avoided just before bedtime; meals time should be atleast 3 to 4 hour before bedtime. Exercising regularly also helps to get good and quality sleep.</p>
<p>Some tips to make the bedroom more sleep friendly:</p>
<p>1. Noise: Noise do not allow sleeping properly, some noises to which we are friendly and used to do not disturb but some unwanted noises do disturb the sleep drastically. To avoid noise disturbance block these noise with earplugs.</p>

<p>4. Temperature: If it is too hot or cold then it also makes sleep uncomfortable. Make sure before sleeping that proper arrangement according to weather is being done.</p>

Children use Lot of energy and so they need to rest at night to keep in good health. If children rest, sleep for adequate time then they would remain cheerful the next day also, or they might just get anxious. Adequate amount of sleep is thus necessary for small children. <p>When we sleep in the night, the body renews the physical and psychic energy used during the day and discards metabolic waste. The bed materials must enable rest, healing and revitalization.<br />
The bed is one of the most crucial assets for a healthy life. It must not cause any hurdle to the natural processes of the body.</p>
<p>State of Heat and Moisture</p>
<p>The heat stored in the synthetic materials causes evaporation of volatile chemicals, which are inhaled by the sleeping person. They are also absorbed inside the skin. Evaporation of formaldehyde (a volatile chemical) gives rise to headache, insomnia, skin rashes and respiratory problems. It is concluded that the human body has 500 more chemicals than it had a century ago. A sleeping person discharges a pint of water in 8 hours. Synthetic materials cannot absorb moisture and this is trapped in them. The growth of microbes is facilitated in these areas. There is a need for materials that will quickly absorb the moisture and then release it into the environment and become dry. Wool and cotton are such materials. They decrease the heartbeats and maintain body temperature. When kept in sunlight, the microbes and dust mites are destroyed. Synthetic materials also increase the possibility of allergy to certain chemicals. Synthetic materials (like polyester) contain chemicals and generate electrostatic charge. There is a possibility of getting an electric shock. Also during sleep we are surrounded by electrostatic charge, which contains more positively charged particles than negative ones. This is in contrast with nature. Synthetic materials cannot be biodegraded and returned back to the environment. They add up to the waste in landfills.</p>
<p>Use of Non-Synthetic materials</p>
<p>Due to the various disadvantages mentioned above, beds are made entirely of non-synthetic materials like cotton, lambs wool, horsehair and cashmere. They are made by hand and provide a non-chemical sleep atmosphere. Latex mattresses also contain 40% synthetic materials. But pure natural latex resists bacteria, dust mites and molds. If wool or fabric covers it it becomes unnecessary to add chemical flame-retardants. But the cost of natural fiber mattresses is comparable to the upper range of synthetic mattresses. Although they are exorbitant, they are more durable than synthetic ones.</p>

<p>Quilts may be as much art form as functional, and they have existed for hundreds of years. The origin of quilts began in the lower classes, as thrifty peasant women used scraps of leftover material or pieces of worn out shirts or dresses to make blankets for their families. Over the course of time quilts gradually evolved into beautiful handcrafts, and since they are so large and labor-intensive, making them became a social event. A quilt can perfectly make the bed look neat, and also provide warmth. For this purpose sleeping on surfaces is a significant requirement for the proper and adequate sleep both in terms of quantity and quality. Quilts are comparatively softer than most of the conventional bed covering materials like linen and other synthetic materials. However, since soft quilts are made of animal fiber they are best suited for the colder climates.</p>

All the gazettes like computer, television, music system should strictly be kept out of bed room as they distracts mind. It may happen that the person is feeling sleepy but he started watching television or play games on computer which will take away all his sleep and he will feel drowsy through out the next day. If one watches some action drama or something sad on the television just before sleeping, it will lead to bad dreams and will not feel refreshed next morning.</p>

<p>How adjustable bed works</p>
<p>An adjustable bed can be adjusted to a number of different positions. For persons with certain types of back problems, sleeping on an adjustable bed that is at a slight incline may be comfortable, with the upper body positioned higher up than the lower body as when sitting in a recliner and some support under the knees to bend the knees at a slight angle. The blend of upper body incline and the knee support can help to off load some of the stress from the lower back. Provided that the patient is happy sleeping in this manner through the night, this position can support the curves to the spine and relieve pressure on the whole body.</p>
<p>Potential benefits of an adjustable bed</p>
<p>An adjustable bed has the potential to help anyone who feels more comfortable in an inclined position like sitting on a recliner with the feet up or rather than when lying on a regular flat mattress. Specially after having low back surgery, some patients feel that an adjustable bed is more comfortable than a flat mattress. Like most of the choices when it comes to mattresses, this is largely a matter of personal preference. In general, it is sensible for a patient to consider the alternative of an adjustable bed if the person feels better sitting in a reclining chair with the knees supported or slightly elevated and if the individual is having trouble getting a good night&#039;s rest on a usual flat mattress. If a patient is not sure whether they would be benefited from an adjustable bed, or is not sure about buying a new bed, then it is also possible to use pillows to prop up the upper body and placing a pillow beneath the knees. It can be alternative to such bed but not as comfortable like them.</p>

<p>NASA had designed a material called &#034;Memory Foam&#034; (also called slow recovery foam or Viscoelastic) in the 1970s for the astronauts. It became the fastest increasing section of the mattress industry for the manufacture of Foam Beds.</p>
<p>Properties and Sizes</p>
<p>The Memory Foam adapts to the body weight and temperature on its own. It is receptive to the heat released by the body during sleeps. The foam assuages the pain and aches accumulated during the day and removes the irritating pressure points. Support is given to the spine, along with no measurable pressure on joints and bones. It can be bought in various densities like 3 pounds to 5 pounds (it means that 1 cubic feet of the foam weights 3 to 5 pounds) and thickness from 2 to 3 inches. Denser foam is more expensive and shows a better performance. Some beds are created from 3 inch or 4 inch of high quality, five-pound memory foam placed on a three-pound foam base (this has a density of 3 pounds per cubic feet). It has medium firmness and is not a soft bed.</p>
<p>When compared with conventional spring mattress it&#039;s contouring provides an enhanced blood circulation. The Rail system has been introduced which offers a firm seating border and a feel of stabilization. Some beds contain Latex, which has the disadvantage of being dynamic and bouncy. But it is more durable than memory foam. The memory foam beds are available in various sizes like Twin, Long Twin, Full, Long Full, Queen, California King and Eastern King. They come in Split firmness i.e. half the bed of one firmness and half of the other and are Split Adjustable i.e. both halves can move separate of each other. Polyurethane is added to foam mattresses to maintain its original firmness.</p>
<p>Advantages</p>
<p>When we sleep on a memory foam bed, each arc of the body is supported, abolishing tossing and turning. There is a feeling of weightlessness due to the optimum balance of softness and rigidity. The partner&#039;s movement does not disturb the sleep. They provide an excellent remedy for those who are frequently robbed of sleep. It is very useful for ill persons as it is responsive to temperature changes.</p>

<p>Fragrances</p>
<p>Perfumes spread fragrance around you. They, perfumes, reflect your personality. You may also like wearing them at night and sleeping. However, wearing perfumes at night is harmful and thus, it should be avoided. We however do not understand that wearing perfumes at night may cause several health conditions. While sleeping, avoid the usage of the perfumes. The strong smell of the perfumes causes irritation in the nose and makes you sniff. If you have a sleeping partner, then it may irritate your partner, and make him catch up with a sneeze. The strong smell of the cologne may get you a headache. Before sleeping, you may have a habit of bathing. You may have a habit of wearing some strong perfume just after you are done with your bathing. The smell of the perfume may cause irritation. Thus, avoid wearing perfume. It may also cause suffocation.</p>
<p>Good night&#039;s sleep</p>
<p>You might be habituated of wearing a good perfume before sleeping and so cannot avoid it. Then, you can surely wear a mild one, perfume. The mild perfume may not cause irritation to you and your partner at night while sleeping. The suffocation due to the strong smell can be also avoided. For a better sleep at night and to be free from the rest effects that perfume may case hampering your health, avoid the usage of perfumes or atleast reduce the usage. Sleep well at night and be fresh to face the challenges that would come to you. To be in a healthy state it is essential to have an adequate amount of sleep also a good sleep.</p>

<p>Meditation before sleep</p>
<p>Meditation does not mean crossing legs and hum, but focus on relaxing. Take deep, long breaths. Tense each muscle one at a time from head to toe. By focusing on doing this takes the mind off of other things and the sleep will come on time. Exercise during the day as Exercising at night just gets everything going instead of shutting down for sleep. But exercising during the day tires the muscles out and makes for a solid nights sleep</p>
<p>Improve sleep habits</p>
<p>Go to bed and wake up at the same time every day even if there is not enough sleep. This will help train the body to sleep at night. Develop a bedtime routine by doing the same thing every night before going to sleep. Take a warm bath and then read for 10 minutes every night before going to bed. Soon the body will connect these activities with sleeping, and doing them will help to make sleepy. Use the bedroom only for sleeping or read before sleep and do not eat, talk on the phone or watch TV in the bed. Make sure bedroom is quiet and dark. If noise is a problem, use a fan to mask the noise or use earplugs. As if the bed is used for any other purpose it loose the image of relaxing area. So it is always advisable to use the bed only for sleeping or to relax.</p>
